What is a Wellness Center?

Wellness Centers are spa-like facilities that offer medical care and procedures in a relaxing environment. They don't look like traditional doctor's offices, instead providing clients with the best of both worlds: medical care and treatments from trained professionals in an innovative and refreshing environment.  

Wellness Centers specialize in mid-level services such as facial injections to reverse the signs of aging, as well as chemical peels, laser hair removal and other non-surgical treatments designed to perk up the skin and boost self-confidence. 

In a Wellness Center, the employees performing the treatments must be nurse practitioners, physician's assistants or medical doctors. The required credentials vary from state to state, with Florida being among the most restrictive in terms of who can administer drugs and other treatments.

US MARKET POTENTIAL  

At the macro level, North America dominated the anti-aging services market with a share of 42.7% in 2019. This is due to a rising aged population, as well as Generation Y, who are more concerned about beauty, wellness, and physical appearance.

The global medical spa market was valued at US$11.1 billion in 2017, and was projected to reach US$27.6 billion by 2025, which implied a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.2% over the period, according to a report published by Allied Market Research. 

INDUSTRY STATS

The average annual revenue for medical spas in 2019 was $1.5 million—up two digits since 2017—without any realized revenue from vitamin IV therapy or weight loss solutions. And despite the revenue limits, the industry’s profit margin is recorded at 28% based on 2018’s industry report provided by the American MedSpa Association. Injectables are still the most reliable way to attract patients, and with developing efficiencies and increasing innovation, practices make a lot of money from injectables.
